I have a strong interest in sustainable/bio-climatic architecture.
My work is heavily influenced by the theories of William J. Mitchell, Manuel de Landa and Victor Papanek. I aim to achieve a socially, economically and environmentally holistic approach when delivering projects.
Generally, this is a process of layering. Each layer narrows the scope of the design possibilities to form an architectural language.
Before the development of a space or building, most of my work begins with the following 'layers':
- Environmental analysis using solar/sun-path/shadow studies for the equinox & solstices & wind direction analysis.
- Context analysis considering pedestrian & vehicular access; views & vistas; surrounding building levels; surrounding built form.
- Programmatic analysis taking the brief & linking spaces according to proximity, use & environmental requirement.
